Introduction to Drawing Landscapes
Wednesday, 6:30 pm
March 26th – May 14th | Ages 16-99+

Perfect for beginners and intermediate artists, this course offers both instruction and hands-on practice to build confidence and creativity in drawing natural environments.

This 8-week course is designed to help students develop their landscape drawing skills, from understanding basic composition and perspective to mastering shading, texture, and natural forms. Each week, students will explore different elements of landscape drawing with various mediums, including graphite, charcoal*, and colored pencil, with an emphasis on colored pencil during the final project.

By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in landscape art and will complete a final project that demonstrates their growth and understanding of the techniques learned throughout the class.

No makeup classes will be made available in the case of illness or inclement weather.

Supply List

    • Pencils (2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B)
    • One Rubber Eraser (white polymer eraser recommended)
    • One Kneaded Eraser
    • One 8in. x 10in or 9in. x 12in. Pad of Bristol Board/Drawing Paper (Strathmore Bristol Board preferred, with vellum surface)
    • One 24 count set of Prismacolor Colored Pencils (quality varies considerably between colored pencil brands, Prismacolor is recommended)
    • One handheld pencil sharpener
    • Drawing Board recommended but not required

    *charcoal supplies provided by Baker Hunt, but you can bring your own if you have them

    Final project will be your own photographic image of a landscape of your choice, so you will need to bring in your own printed reference photo beginning Week 6

Introduction to Drawing & Color Pencil
Monday, 1:00 pm January 6 – February 24
Ages 16-99+

Explore a new hobby and skill as you develop beginner-level drawing skills through quality instruction.  During this 8-week course, you will learn about various drawing elements are as you start to apply them to your compositions. Elements such as perspective, composition, foreshortening, line quality, and shading. You will also learn to forward your new found passion of drawing as you learn techniques of how to use the colored pencil medium as you begin to create colorful works of art.

No makeup classes will be made available in the case of illness or inclement weather.

– One 12in. Ruler
– One Durable Eraser
– One 8in. x 10in. Pad of Drawing Paper/Bristol
– One 24 count set of Prismacolor Colored Pencils
